“where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God…”
Ruth 1:16
Ruth 1:19-22
“The two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, “can this be Naomi?” “Don’t call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter.” I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.” So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.”
Sometimes we end up in an unexpected place or situation in life. That is exactly where Ruth and Naomi found themselves in Ruth chapter one. However, in the midst of the trial, God led these two ladies to the right place at the right time to provide for them. The Lord stood with them and provided people, like Boaz, to stand alongside of them as well.
If you have found yourself in an unexpected place, I want to encourage and remind you that God will work in those unexpected places! Even when life does not turn out how we anticipated, when our current situation would not be our first choice, God is at work. In the waiting… in the unknown… God is still there.
When we look together at Ruth and Naomi’s story there are some great things we can learn about standing in Love with another.
- We are called to stand with others in strength.
- We are called to be faithful in all circumstances.
- The Lord will stand with us and give us strength.
“And the Lord stood with me and gave me strength…”
2 Timothy 4:17
